„Nach 11 Jahren Zinssenkungen beschloss die EZB ihre Leitzinsen um zaghafte 0,25 % anzuheben. Dies reicht jedoch bei weitem nicht aus, um die Inflation von 7,9 %, die höchste Rate seit 30 Jahren, zu decken.

Diese Zinserhöhung ist für Sparer und Rentner, vor allem in Deutschland und anderen EU-Nettozahler-Staaten, bedeutungslos und beweist, dass es der EZB in erster Linie um die Interessen schlecht geführter südeuropäischer Banken geht und nicht um das Vermögen und die Ersparnisse der Normalbürger.“

ECB interest rate rise: meaningless for savers and pensioners

Commenting on the European Central Bank's (ECB) interest rate decision, Gunnar Beck, AfD monetary policy coordinator in the EU Parliament, said:

"After 11 years of interest rate cuts, the ECB decided to raise its key interest rates by a timid 0.25%. However, this is not enough to cover the inflation of 7.9%, the highest rate in 30 years.

This interest rate hike is meaningless for savers and pensioners, especially in Germany, and proves that the ECB is primarily concerned with the interests of poorly run southern European banks and not with the assets and savings of ordinary citizens."
